Kate Johnston, LAcKate Johnston started her journey to become an acupuncturist almost 40 years ago. “I grew up hearing the expression – we only use 10% of our brains – and have been curious ever since as to what the human mind and body is truly capable of. While I was working with Military Intelligence in South Korea in 1980, I was fortunate to witness the surprising effect of acupuncture. I was instantly hooked and knew that I had to find a way to bring this medicine to my world – my own life, my friends, family and country.” Kate feels fortunate to be a part of the healing process for her patients and after all her years in practice is still amazed every day to witness the healing potential of the human body and spirit. She finds inspiration in the amazing healing potential of the human body and spirit and she says, “I feel so fortunate to be a part of the process.” Kate has had the unique experience of being a part of the profession as it was in it's infancy in the U.S. “It has been an incredible experience to see the growing acceptance of acupuncture in the US. When I started this journey in 1980, acupuncture was pretty much non-existent here. Gradually over the years, despite skepticism from the medical and scientific community, because of its effectiveness, acupuncture has risen to become a normal part of American life. I am very proud to be a part of that.” |
